Being free from work on Friday I was planning on going to Denmark by car for two games. Unfortunately the garage messed up and my car was not repaired on Wednesday as they had promised me. My initial plan was to visit Næstved IF v AB Tårnby on Friday evening and then drive to Såby for the Saturday lunch-time kick-off. Without a car Såby was impossible though but I still decided to visit Næstved since that was quite easy by train. The train left Kristianstad 10.24 and after changing trains in Copenhagen I arrived in Næstved 13.55. My hotel was then only 10 minutes by foot from the train station.

In 2009 I visited the main ground in Næstved and tonight´s venue, Emerson Arena Kunst, is situated next door. Næstved IF play in Danmarksserien (level 5) and they are the amateur section of Næstved BK who play in 2. Division. Wanting some pictures in daylight I purchased a baguette and then headed towards the ground. There are no proper stands but the clubhouse, with its café, is situated next to the pitch. After taking a few pictures I went back to my hotel for a short rest.

Kick-off was at 19.00 and having enjoyed a really nice dinner at an Italian restaurant I was back at Emerson Arena 18.35 or so. AB Tårnby and Næstved IF are the bottom two clubs in the league at the moment but there are only a few points separating them from several other clubs. Danmarksserien is divided into 4 groups with 10 teams in each group. The top five end up in one the two promotion groups and the bottom five in one of the two relegation groups. It was free entrance this evening but my headcount said 70 spectators and most of them could celebrate as the home team comfortably won 4-0. It was quite chilly towards the end and for the first time this year I was wearing my winter coat. Once back at my hotel I had a well deserved drink and despite the disappointment of missing out on Såby I was still quite pleased with my day out in Næstved.
