Gif Nike is a club based in Lomma, just outside Malmö, and with nothing else planned this Saturday I decided to attend the Division 2 match between Nike and IFK Klagshamn. Nike play at Lomma Idrottsplats and as I had no idea what the ground would look like I didn´t know what to expect. Most grounds at this level in Sweden are very basic but Lomma IP has two proper stands and it actually felt like a ground (and not like a playing field). The West (main) stand has about 150 covered seats and on the opposite side there is an open terrace. Gif Nike was in 10th place, which is the relegation play-off spot, before this match but with today´s opponents, IFK Klagshamn, being top of the table I expected a decent crowd for this match. Unfortunately it started to rain 30 minutes or so before kick-off and the attendance barely reached three figures. The weather became better and better though and by the end there was even some sunshine. They game was a quite good one. Nike scored early on and despite creating several chances IFK Klagshamn couldn´t find an equaliser, instead Nike scored again shortly before half-time to make it 2-0 to the home team. IFK Klagshamn came out flying in the second half though and it was soon 2-1. They then did everything but score. The best chance was a header off the underside of the cross-bar which bounced off the goal-line. When Klagshamn had their striker sent off (two yellow cards) for diving most people felt Nike had the three points. IFK Klagshamn still haven´t lost in the league this year though and with 10 seconds of stoppage time to go they found the equaliser. A stunning strike from outside the penalty-box made it straight to the lefthand cross of the goal, 2-2 and wild celebrations in the visitors camp. Their manager ran onto the pitch and 10 seconds later the final whistle went. A very entertaining Division 2 match was over.
