Nybro

Ground: Victoriavallen

Visits: 1

Date: 14th May 2016

Match: Nybro - FC Rosengård  0-3  (Division 2 Södra Götaland)

Attendance: 150

Nybro IF were crowned champions of Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland in 2015. I completed the grounds in Division 2 Södra Götaland two years ago but Nybro´s promotion meant I had a new ground, Victoriavallen, to visit if I wanted to re-complete the most southern of the six Division 2 leagues in Sweden. From Kristianstad it takes around 2 hours to drive to Nybro and I decided the visit of FC Rosengård, one of the favourites for the title, was the most interesting fixture I had the possibility to go to this year at Nybrovallen. The weather forecast said sunshine and maybe some rain during the game and as I arrived it was actually sunshine in Nybro. I had looked at svenskfotboll.se, the official website of the Swedish FA, for directions but as I parked outside the ground shown on the Victoriavallen page I quickly realized I was at the wrong place. I hadn´t seen any signs saying Victoriavallen and the ground (which turned out to be Åkrahälls IP) was more or less deserted. Luckily for me the person I asked was on his way to the ground himself and I simply followed him to Victoriavallen. Victoriavallen has a few running tracks but to me this was quite a nice ground with small steps of terracing circling the pitch. The main stand is on the south side of the ground and has around 200 seats. From this elevated stand you have a perfect view of Victoriavallen. There a few benches on the far (north) side as well but unfortunately no roof in this part of the ground.

Before the match this afternoon FC Rosengård were second in the table and Nybro second from bottom. Nybro started the game quite well though and could have scored early on. Rosengård are a strong and physical team and with two goals in two minutes (38th and 39th) it was suddenly 0-2 on the scoreboard. As I said before it was sunshine as I arrived in Nybro but for most of the 90 minutes it was raining and all the rain made conditions difficult towards the end of the game. Nybro fought bravely but when FC Rosengård made it 0-3 in the second half the game was over. There are two really good teams in this year´s Division 2 Södra Götaland and FK Karlskrona and FC Rosengård, now level on points at the top, will fight to the last round for the top spot. Nybro are in the relegation zone but if they continue to play like they did against Rosengård they should have a good chance of staying up. I have now seen a match at every ground in Division 2 Södra Götaland and having only three clubs left in Division 2 Västra Götaland I might complete that league as well during 2016.
