Råå

Ground: Råå Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 18th May 2019

Match: Råå - Anderstorp  4-0  (Division 3 Sydvästra Götaland)

Attendance: 150

When it comes to football clubs from Helsingborg most people think of Helsingborgs IF. In 1948 Råå IF, from the southern outskirts of Helsingborg, managed to win the Swedish Cup and the club also played two seasons in Allsvenskan. Since then Råå have been down to Division 7 but they are now on their way up again. Last year Råå won Division 4 Skåne Nordvästra meaning they are now playing in Division 3. Råå have started the season quite well with three wins in their opening five matches and as I set off I was hoping for an entertaining match. At home it was cloudy and misty but as I parked my car outside Råå IP the sun was out and it was almost 20 degrees. Kick-off between Råå and Anderstorp was at 15.00 but at 12.30 Råå women´s team kicked-off their match and as I arrived there was already plenty of locals inside the ground. Behind the goal in the west end of the ground there is a clubhouse with a nice porch. I recognized one of the locals sitting there and the chatted with him for about 15 minutes. Bengt Levin is a legend within the table-tennis community in Sweden and as long as I can remember he has been heavily involved with the table-tennis club (BTK Rekord) in Helsingborg. He told me he goes every match at Råå IP (and sometimes to away matches as well). It is always nice to meet people I have met playing table-tennis over the years and I wished him and Råå the best.

Anderstorp were the better team in the first half but at half-time it was still 0-0. In the second half it was more of an even game and early on in the second half both teams had a player sent off. In the 60th minute Råå scored to make it 1-0. Anderstorp pressed on to find the equalizing goal but that also meant plenty of counter-attacks for Råå and in the last 8 minutes they scored from three of those to eventually win 4-0. Not exactly a fair result but with four goals and two red cards I was pleased with my visit to Råå IP. Råå are now up to 2nd place in the table and it will be interesting to follow their progress in this league.
