Ground: Råslätts Idrottsplats
Date: 14th September 2014
Match: Råslätt- HIF Akademi 1-3 (Division 2 Västra Götaland)
14 September was not just any other day in Sweden. It was the day Råslätt hosted HIF Akademi in Division 2 Västra Götaland. It was also the day for the general election and to be fair the election excited people in Sweden more than the football match at Råslätts IP. Having spent the night in Kristinehamn I had about 2 h and 30 minutes of driving to do to reach Råslätts IP. Råslätt is a southern suburb to Jönköping and since Jönköping is situated on the way back home from Kristinehamn this was a perfect match for me. Kick-off at Råslätts IP was 14.00 and 75 minutes prior to kick-off I parked my car outside the ground. I tried to find somewhere to eat but an (old) sandwich at a nearby petrol station was all I could find. Anyway, I made my way back to the ground and took some pictures of the ground. Råslätts IP has running tracks and a "main" stand on the east side of the ground. The middle part of the stand had a roof but the rest of the stand was open to the elements. Thankfully the weather was nice this election day.
Råslätt are third from bottom in the table and needed the points against Helsingborg's academy team. It started quite well for the home team who made it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Before half-time the visitors from Helsingborg equalized though but this was not the most interesting thing happening in the first half. The referee had a dark blue shirt and since Råslätt play in dark blue something had to be done. The referee asked HIF Akademi for one of their orange warm-up vests and for 30 minutes the referee wore this vest. At half-time he then changed to a yellow shirt. On the pitch HIF Akademi totally dominated the second half and deservedly won the match 3-1. Not a big crowd at Råslätts IP this afternoon but quite an entertaining match. After the match I had about 250 km of driving to do before returning back home.
