In December 2008 Malmö Anadolu BI changed its name to FC Rosengård.
Malmö Anadolu BI (MABI) was founded in March 2001 as a merger between Malmö BI and Turk Anadolu and are based in the suburb of Rosengård in eastern Malmö. Since the merger MABI have been promoted twice and now play in Division 1. One of the clubs in the merger, Malmö BI, are of course the club where Zlatan Ibrahimovic started his career. Zlatan nowdays play for Inter Milan but has never forgotten his roots, in 2007 he paid for and opened “Zlatan Court”, a floodlit five-a-side football pitch in Rosengård with a surface made out of recycled training shoes. The opponents today, Öster (from Växjö), have won the Swedish league title four times and played in Allsvenskan two years ago but after successive relegations they find themselves in Division 1. Before today´s match (round 24 of 26) Öster were in second place, one point behind leaders Trollhättan. After going 2-1 up in the second half and being in control of the match Öster seemed to keep up the pressure on Trollhättan, but two defensive errors in as many minutes meant Öster are now four points behind the top team.
