Match: Sösdala - Snogeröd  1-2  (Play-off to Division 5)

Attendance: 200

Last weekend the regular league season in the lower leagues in Sweden finished and it is now time for the play-offs. In the play-offs to Division 5 two teams from Division 6 play each other in round one and the aggregate winner will then play a team from Division 5 in round two. When planning where to go I had to consider the result in the 1st leg (played on Wednesday evening) and also if the club is playing at their regular ground. In Skåne most clubs play on grass which is something positive. In October that means some games have to be moved to an artificial pitch though. Snogeröd v Sösdala ended 1-1 in the 1st leg and when Sösdala confirmed the game would be played at Hanåsvallen I decided to go there. From Kristianstad it is only 35 minutes by car to Södala but despite 18 degrees and sunshine at home it was only 11 degrees and rain in showers upon arrival in Sösdala!

As kick-off approached there was a lengthy queue to enter the ground and in total around 200 spectators, many from Snogeröd, were at Hanåsvallen for this decider. The 1st half was quite even and at half-time it was 0-0- With away goals not counting anymore this result would mean extra-time. At half-time I had a cup of coffee and suddenly the sun appeared as well. I heard both sets of fans talking and it was quite nervous in both camps. Sösdala were the better team but suddenly it was 1-0 to Snogeröd. Another counter-attack a few minutes later meant 0-2 on the score-board. Hardly deserved but football is about scoring goals. With 15 minutes to go Södala made it 1-2 and in the aftermath Snogeröd had a player sent off. Real drama now at Hanåsvallen. Despite trying their best Sösdala failed to find another goal and it ended 2-1 to Snogeröd who will now play Helsingborgs AIS next weekend.
