SpårvägenGround: Skarpnäcks Sportfält Visits: 1 Date: 6th June 2014 Match: Spårvägens FF - Strömsberg 1-1 (Division 2 Norra Sveland) Attendance: 100
I was supposed to go to only one match, Värmdö vs Aspudden-Tellus, this Friday but that was about to change. As Daniel was driving us back from Värmdö my phone rang. That was fellow groundhopper Hans Eskilsson and he was at Skarpnäcks Sportfält where Spårvägen hosted Strömsberg. Skarpnäcks Sportfält was a 25-minute journey (by underground and foot) from my hotel and I made the decision to go to this match as well. I arrived in the 44th minute, just in time to witness Strömsberg equalize. I then made it to the small stand where I spotted Hans. He has a groundhopping-blog (http://www.eskilsfotbollsresor.se/) of his own and as you can see he has been quite busy this year. Having played for among others Hammarby (11 seasons), Hearts, Sporting (Lisbon) and Braga as well as 8 times for Sweden he also has a different experience and view of football than most other groundhoppers. We chatted for most of the match (what was left of it!) and as always it is interesting to hear stories from others who travel around.
Skarpnäcks Sportfält is a very basic football ground. The pitch is artificial and fenced off on three sides. The only stand is on the west side of the ground and has five steps. Before this match Spårvägen were bottom of the table with only point and Strömsberg were a place above with six points. In the end the match finished 1-1 and Strömsberg are now in the relegation play-off place. For Spårvägen this was a must-win match and the seem destined for relegation. After the final whistle I said goodbye to Hans and hopefully we can meet up again in the near future.
