Strandvallen (konstgräs)Ground: Strandvallen (konstgräs) Visits: 1 Date: 20th February 2022 Match: Mjällby - Norrby 0-0 (Svenska Cupen) Attendance: 300 The league season in Sweden starts the first weekend in April but nowadays the domestic season starts in February with the group stage of the Swedish cup. After two knock-out rounds there are 8 groups with 4 teams left. Teams play each other once and the group winners progress to the quarter-finals. For matchday 1 I was at first plannig a visit to Fridhemsparken in Ängelholm for Ängelholm v Värnamo but the weather forecast (2-3 degrees and rain) meant I looked elsewhere and in the end I decided to go Hällevik for Mjällby v Norrby. Mjällby play their cup games at Strandvallen Konstgräs, around 300 m from the main ground. I was outside the ground 40 minutes prior to kick-off and it was possible to park less than 50 m from the entrance! Strandvallen Konstgräs are used for cup games and friendlies in the winter months. With a grass bank behind the goal and on the far side giving a good view for fans it is actually not a bad ground to visit. On the west side there is also a small stand for Mjällby´s most loyal fans. Norrby, from Borås, didn´t bring any fans to Hällevik this Saturday afternoon but around 300 home fans were present. In the first half Mjällby had most of the possession but apart from hitting the outside of the post they had few clear chances. In the second half Norrby had more possession but not many, if any, clear chances to score. This was actually a typical pre-season match and it ended goalless. No goals for me as I opened my account for 2022 but at least the rain stayed away. Next weekend I am aiming for my first trip outside of Sweden and Denmark for more than two years and hopefully I will see some goals on that trip. ![]() Entrance
