At first I was not planning on attending a game this weekend but with a temperature of around 10℃ and some sunshine promised I changed my mind. DM Skåne (County cup) starts with a group stage where four teams play each other once and the winners progress to the knock-out rounds. Most clubs treat DM games as glorified friendlies and in the group stage it is artificial pitches only. Veberöds AIF are famous for knocking IFK Göteborg out of the Swedish cup in 1993. At that time IFK Göteborg was one of the best teams in Europe and the defeat against Veberöd is probably the greatest shock in the history of the Swedish cup. Romelevallen was the venue back then and where Veberöd normally play their home games. The cup game between Veberöd (division 4) and Harlösa (division 6) this afternoon was played at the artificial pitch at Svalebo IP but as I arrived, some 35 minutes prior to kick-off, no-one was there. After a few minutes both teams showed up though. I counted around 50 spectators as well as 6 dogs at Svalebo IP and we could witness one-way traffic. Veberöd were by far the better team and at full time the score-board showed 8-0 to the hosts. Not exactly a competitive game but at least I had plenty of goals today!
