SvenstorpGround: Svenstorps Idrottsplats Vistis: 1 Date: 7th April 2024 Match: Svenstorp - Wä 0-1 (Division 5 Skåne Östra) Attendance: 60 A few days ago winter made an unnecessary return but during the weekend temperatures reached +16 degrees and it finally felt like spring had arrived. With the weather being really nice I decided to go to a match on Sunday as well and at 11.45 a work colleague picked me up. Our destination for the day was Svenstorps IP where Svenstorp hosted Wä in the opening round of Division 5 Skåne Östra. Having a population of only 105 Svenstorp is not a place you usually visit but once at the ground I was pleasantly surprised. Svenstorp is actually a club which has produced two top players. Jan-Olov Kindvall played in the 1979 European cup final for Malmö FF and he started his career at Svenstorp. Anders Andersson played for clubs like Malmö FF, Benfica, Blackburn and Aalborg as well as 27 times for Sweden. Anders also started his career at Svenstorps IP and not many clubs at this level have produced two such prominent players! Svenstorps IP has a grass pitch and compared to the ones (3) I have been to last week in Division 2 this was probably the best one. On the pitch Wä, based right outside of Kristianstad, were clearly the better team and at half-time they were deservedly 1-0 up. In the 2nd half Wä continued to create chances but missed them all. Svenstorp rarely threatened to score and as the final whistle was blown it was the visitors who could celebrate a 1-0 victory. It was very windy in Svenstorp but nevertheless a great day out at an Idrottsplats ticking all the boxes when it comes to lower league football. ![]() Svenstorps IF SIF Kick-off ![]() View of play East side East side East Stand Train View of play ![]() View of play North End West side West side West side South End View of Svenstorps IP |
