When the older generation (50+) hear the name Teckomatorp they most likely think of BT Kemi and the biggest environmental scandal in Sweden's history. I still remember watching on tv when the factory was blown up in 1979. BT Kemi made pesticides and other dangerous chemicals and when animals started to die and people got sick the authorities discovered lots of barrels with chemicals had been buried in the ground. The factory was closed and the sanitation took decades but now Teckomatorp is free from those chemicals and locals probably want to forget about this sad part of their history. The local football club, Teckomatorps IF, were promoted to Division 4 at the end of last season and Teckomatorps IP was my only missing ground in Division 4 Skåne Sydvästra. Having problems with the grass pitch, Teckomatorp played their first home games of the season on an artificial pitch. When the club announced the game on Friday evening would be on the grass pitch I decided to go to this game. Kick-off on Friday evening was at 18.45 and for me the drive to Teckomatorp takes around 70 minutes.

Tonight´s visitors, Råå from Helsingborg, are also new to this league and being 2nd in the table they have started 2024 better than expected. In the blustery conditions at Teckomatorps IP Råå started the better team and after 20 minutes it was 0-2 on the score-board. I was expecting Råå to score a couple of more goals but despite numerous chances it was still 0-2 at half-time. As you can see on the pictures below it was a sunny evening but once the sun went behind the tree line it was quite chilly and plenty of fans moved to the other side in time for the 2nd half. Råå continued to create chances in the 2nd half but from a corner Teckomatorp suddenly and against the run of play made it 1-2. Råå was by far the better team though and managed to hold on to a 2-1 victory and three more points in the bag for them.
