Trepca FC HässleholmGround: Göingevallen Visits: 1 Date: 9th September 2023 Match: Trepca FC Hässleholm - IFK Osby 1-5 (Division 5 Skåne Nordöstra) Attendance: 75 Trepca FC Hässleholm were founded in 2021 and not wanting to be yet another club playing at Österås IP they requested to play at Göingevallen, an athletics ground which was inaugurated in 1910. The local council gave Trepca permission to use Göingevallen and for the first time in many years football was once again played at this iconic ground. In 1972 a bumper crowd of 3,807 watched on as Hässleholms IF hosted IFK Göteborg in Division 2 Södra. Trepca played their historic first home at Göingevallen in June 2021 and this was the first match here for at least 20 years (my research has failed in finding out when Hässleholms IF left the ground). Having played table tennis (Kristianstad Open) earlier in the day, a 3pm kick-off was ideal for me and 30 minutes or so prior to kick-off I parked my car outside Göingevallen. It was a really warm day in southern Sweden but thankfully the main stand provided cover from the sun. Trepca FC Hässleholm spent two seasons in division 6 and 2023 is their first ever season in division 5. They are just above the relegation play-off spots but with today's opponents being promotion chasing IFK Osby it was to be a tough day for the hosts. I counted about 75 fans present at Göingevallen and at least half were supporting IFK Osby. It was 3-0 after 35 minutes and as the final whistle was blown it was 5-1 to the visitors. With the temperature reaching 25-26 degrees there were cooling-breaks and it felt a bit surreal to experience a cooling-break in Sweden in September! Anyway, a nice day out for me and it was great to finally be able to tick-off Göingevallen.
