Vångavallen konstgräsGround: Vångavallen konstgräs (D-plan) Visits: 1 Date: 2nd March 2024 Match: Trelleborgs FF - Helsingborgs IF 2-1 (Svenska Cupen) Attendance: 353 Looking through the fixture list for the third and last weekend of the group stage of the Swedish Cup I noticed there was only one new ground for me. Trelleborgs FF normally play at Vångavallen but their cup games are at the nearby artificial pitch, Vångavallen D-plan. With today's opponents being Helsingborg there would be a decent attendance even though neither team had a chance of progressing to the quarterfinals. On my way to Trelleborg I made a small detour to the cemetery in Södra Åby, 10 km from Trelleborg, where my grandparents and several other relatives are buried. It has been more than a year since my last visit and as always, it is a bit emotional to visit the cemetery and nearby house where my mother grew up. It was a foggy day in southern Sweden but thankfully the game was on and once at Vångavallen I parked my car at the official car park. Prior to entering I met up with Dutch groundhopper Gijs. He is an Ajax season ticket holder but nowadays lives in Malmö. We had home tickets and could use the east end and half of the north side. Helsingborg had sold out their allocation of 150 tickets and were handed the other half of the north side as well as the south end. The north side had a grass hill and the view was actually better than I expected. Helsingborg were 1-0 up at half-time but in the second half Trelleborg scored twice to win 2-1. The official attendance was given as 353 and despite being like a “glorified friendly” I enjoyed my visit to Trelleborg. Next weekend it is time for the quarter finals and in two weeks time the semi finals are being played. The draw is on Monday evening. ![]() Kick-off East End ![]() Trelleborg equalising View of play Flags View of play North side Helsingborg fans Trelleborg fans View of play |
