Yngsjö

Ground: Yngsjö Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 26th September 2020

Match: Yngsjö - Åsums BK  1-1  (Division 6 Skåne Östra)

Attendance: 65

The last weekend of September meant round 11 (of 12) in Division 4 to 6 in Skåne. Plenty of interesting fixtures to choose from and in the end I decided to visit Yngsjö Idrottsplats for Yngsjö v Åsums BK in Division 6 Skåne Östra. Three points for Yngsjö and they would be three points and 20 goals ahead of second placed Huaröd coming into the last round next weekend. Yngsjö is around 30 minutes by car for me and I was outside the ground 45 minutes prior to kick-off. It is not football that has earned Yngsjö its name in Swedish history though. In 1889 Anna Månsdotter committed the so called Yngsjö murder and she was to be the last woman being executed in Sweden. Anna Månsdotter had an incestuous relationship with her son and killed his wife to keep him for herself. Several films have been made of this tragic event and it is not difficult to understand why.

When it comes to football Yngsjö, situated just south of Åhus, had its glory days in the early 90s when the club played in the third tier. Nowadays they are in Division 6 but for this level Yngsjö has a really good ground with small stands on both sides of the ground. With today´s visitor, Åsums BK, being in contention for a play-off spot I expected a tough game for Yngsjö and I was to be right. After only 10(?) seconds Åsum scored and at half-time it was still 0-1. In the second half Yngsjö had most of the possession and with 20 minutes to go they equalized 1-1. I was expecting an onslaught from the home team but it was instead Åsum who had most of the chances late on. A tense game finished 1-1 and it is everything to play for next weekend. Yngsjö are away to Venestad at the infamous Vildsvinsvallen and they will have a tough game for sure.
